Candidate Fair Use Policy

Permitted use of AI career tools by job seekers and candidates.

1. Purpose

This Candidate Fair Use Policy ("Policy") describes the permitted use of TheSHFTApp's AI career tools and Services by job seekers, workers, SHFTRs, and candidates ("Candidates"). It sets expectations for honest, responsible use of AI-assisted career tools and preserves the integrity of the hiring process for all participants.

This Policy supplements the Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Use.


2. The Purpose of AI Career Tools

TheSHFTApp's AI tools โ€” including Resume Builder, Cover Letter Generator, ATS Resume Scanner, Interview Preparation, Smart Apply, Answer Vault, and AI Career Coach โ€” are designed to help Candidates:

  • Present their authentic professional background more effectively;
  • Prepare for interviews with greater confidence;
  • Navigate complex application processes more efficiently;
  • Identify career paths aligned with their genuine skills and goals; and
  • Improve the quality and professionalism of their application materials.

These tools are assistive โ€” they help you communicate who you are, not fabricate who you are not.


3. Permitted Uses

Candidates may use TheSHFTApp AI tools to:

(a) Generate, draft, and polish resumes and cover letters that accurately reflect their actual experience, skills, and qualifications;

(b) Optimize resume language and formatting for readability and ATS compatibility, based on their genuine background;

(c) Prepare for interviews by practicing answers to likely interview questions;

(d) Generate application answer suggestions that they review, edit, and submit as their own;

(e) Identify job opportunities aligned with their real skills, preferences, and experience;

(f) Use Smart Apply to submit applications for positions they are genuinely qualified for and interested in; and

(g) Use the AI Career Coach for career guidance, strategy, and professional development support.


4. Prohibited Uses

Candidates may not use TheSHFTApp tools to:

(a) Fabricate qualifications or experience. AI tools may not be used to generate resumes or application materials that claim experience, credentials, or qualifications the Candidate does not actually hold.

(b) Impersonate another person. Candidates may not use the Platform to apply for positions using another person's identity, credentials, or resume.

(c) Mass spam applications. Candidates may not use Smart Apply or other automation to submit bulk applications to positions without genuine interest or qualifications.

(d) Misrepresent AI involvement when prohibited. If an employer or job board expressly prohibits AI-assisted applications, Candidates are responsible for complying with those restrictions.

(e) Circumvent employer vetting processes. Candidates may not use the Platform to circumvent legitimate background checks, skills assessments, identity verification, or other employer screening processes.

(f) Use AI for unrelated purposes. AI Career Coach and other AI features may only be used for career, workforce, job search, and authorized platform purposes. Personal use of AI features for non-career activities (creative writing, research unrelated to career, entertainment) is not a permitted use of TheSHFTApp AI tools.


5. Your Responsibility for Application Materials

Regardless of how much AI assistance you use, you remain solely responsible for:

  • The accuracy and truthfulness of all application materials;
  • Representing only genuine qualifications, experience, and credentials;
  • Reviewing all AI-generated content before submission;
  • Ensuring compliance with any employer or job board restrictions on AI use; and
  • Verifying that application answers accurately reflect your views, experience, and capabilities.

Submitting application materials that you know to be inaccurate or misleading is a violation of these Terms regardless of whether AI assistance was used.


6. Authenticity Is Competitive Advantage

TheSHFTApp's tools are designed to help you present your authentic self more compellingly. AI-assisted materials that accurately reflect your real experience will serve you better in interviews, in employment, and in your career than fabricated credentials that cannot survive scrutiny. Use these tools to shine โ€” not to deceive.


7. Consequences of Misuse

Violation of this Policy may result in:

  • Suspension or termination of your Account;
  • Removal from recruiter referral programs;
  • Referral to law enforcement in cases involving fraud; and
  • Liability for harm caused to employers, recruiters, or TheSHFTApp.
